De Rossi wanted Totti and Monchi out of Rome

According to La Repubblica, the Italian midfielder and other heavyweights in the ‘giallorosso’ wardrobe would have asked the president to cease Totti, Monchi and Di Francesco

The thousands of Romanists who filled the stands of the Olimipico in the farewell of Daniele De Rossi (35 years) went crazy when he saw his captain melt into an emotional embrace with Francesco Totti , a living legend of the club.

The two great figures of the club ‘giallorosso’ of recent times staged their cordiality and respect, to the delight of the fans. However, in Rome, not everything that glitters is gold.

As published by La Repubblica, behind this hug there would be a conspiracy worthy of the time of Caesar. The Italian newspaper reports that De Rossi called for the cessation of the iconic Roman ’10’ last December.

The midfielder, supported by other heavyweights of the team such as Kolarov, Dzeko and Manolas, would have sent an email to Ed Lippie, at that time a man of confidence of President James Pallotta, where he asked for the head of Totti and also of Monchi (then sports director) and coach Di Francesco.

The letter claimed to “keep away” Totti to believe that his influence was harmful to the team, but Pallotta did not want to intervene. Months later, Monchi and Di Francesco ‘jumped’ after the elimination of Rome from the Champions League at the hands of Porto and since then, always according to that means, De Rossi and Totti (promoted to sports director) have barely kept in touch.

The cold and distance in their relationship seemed to end last weekend at the time of the hug, although the microphones caught a comment from Totti that arouses some suspicions.

Whispering to his ear, the mythical ’10’ told De Rossi : “I did not want to,” referring to the withdrawal of the midfielder, something that according to the transcendent could be understood as the tagline of a ‘vendetta’ of Totti accelerating the retirement of the midfield player.
